Application Deadline

The Undergraduate major is a limited access program requiring a School application. Meeting the application eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission. Admission is available for the summer/fall semesters only and requires a minimum of two years to complete. Please note that major coursework begins in the fall semester.

The application window will open January 2nd, 2018. No application materials will be accepted prior to this date. To be considered for admission, students must complete this online application AND transfer students must submit supporting documentation to:

Students will be sent notification regarding their acceptance or denial through the e-mail address as listed on this online application. Decisions will be released on Friday, February 23, 2018 by 5 PM EST.

Application Submission Eligibility

Students who wish to major in Communication Science & Disorders must have fulfilled the following requirements by February 2nd, 2018. Students applying for admission must:

  1. Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on all college coursework to be considered for admission.
  2. Have completed CLEP and accelerated credit scores posted by time of application.
  3. Have all liberal studies course substitutions approved by the appropriate dean and posted by time of application.
  4. In addition, students must complete the following requirements by the end of the Spring semester in which they are applying:

    1. A minimum of fifty-two semester hours of college coursework accepted by Florida State University
    2. Successfully complete all Liberal Studies and writing requirement coursework as accepted by Florida State University
    3. Appropriate coursework in statistics, biology, social/behavioral sciences, and physical sciences (should include) physics or chemistry. Please refer to this link for more info.

In addition, students who wish to major in Communication Science & Disorders must fulfill the following requirements, or earn an AA degree from a Florida public community-college or university, by the end of the spring semester 2018:

  1. All Liberal Studies courses must be successfully completed which includes: Statewide CORE Requirements and FSU Liberal Studies Requirements 
  2. Complete a minimum of 52 hours of undergraduate coursework accepted by FSU

Completion of AA in Spring 2018

  • A student transferring to Florida State University from a Florida public community/junior college or senior institution will be deemed to have satisfied the University's Liberal Studies and Computation & Writing (W) requirement if all general education requirements stipulated by the community/junior College or senior institution have been met and are reflected on the student's transcript. 
  • A student transferring to Florida State University from a private or out-of-state community/junior college or senior institution will have their transcripts evaluated to determine if the student has met the University's Liberal Studies and Computation & Writing (W) requirements as set by Florida State University.

Completion of AA in Summer 2018

  • Regardless of the transferring institution, application eligibility will be determined base on whether the student has completed all of the Universities Liberal Studies & Writing (w) requirements as set by Florida State University by the end of the Spring 2018 semester. It is expected that the student will utilize the Summer 2018 semester to complete remaining elective credits needed to complete the AA degree as set by the student's current institution.

TRANSFER STUDENTS MUST ALSO INCLUDE THE BELOW INFORMATION AS PART OF THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCE & DISORDERS APPLICATION PACKAGE:

  • Official Transcript (include as part of your application package. 
  • Students receiving an AA in spring 2018 must provide proof of graduation. Proof is defined as a completed application to graduate (which must have a signature of a university official) or letter from the Registrar indicating when the AA degree will be completed. Failure to provide such information will result in the student being evaluated according to Florida State University's individual Liberal Studies and Computational & Writing (W) requirements.
  • Students simultaneously earning a high school diploma and AA degree at the end of the Spring 2018 semester can submit a letter from the AA institution denoting the AA degree will be completed and posted upon completion of the high school diploma.
  • Transfer students should send or deliver all documentation in one application packet to:
